Why Do We Welcome You?

Why do we
welcome you?

I'm Alisa, the founder and publisher of Welcome Home Huntsville.

When I moved back to Huntsville with my family during the pandemic, I was returning to a place I thought I already knew: I grew up here, after all. But what I found was a city transformed: thriving, growing, full of possibility—and surprisingly hard to navigate, even for someone with deep roots. It made me wonder: If I feel disoriented, how much harder must it be for someone new?

That question sparked the idea for Welcome Home Huntsville. After more than a decade working in academic publishing in Boston, I decided to repurpose my skills to create a new resident guide that felt deeply local, personal, and practical. This magazine was built on a simple belief: that community begins with connection. When you know where to go, what to do, and who to trust in your new city, you can begin to connect. And when you connect, you take your first steps to the kind of belonging we’re all looking for.

Each month, this magazine is delivered straight to the doors of new residents like you. Inside, you’ll find more than restaurant lists and event calendars. You’ll find curated, personal recommendations—hand-picked and locally vetted—to help you get plugged in quickly and confidently. From the best places to grab coffee or hear live music, to the service providers we trust with our homes and families, to community events and organizations that help you build real relationships, everything we include is chosen with care and one clear goal: to help you feel at home, faster.

I've packed these pages with practical insights and local favorites—from civic essentials to can’t-miss happenings to hidden gems you might never discover on your own. Every business featured in these pages has been carefully selected because they offer something truly exceptional. We’ve gotten to know them. We trust them. And we’re proud to share them with you. Everything in this magazine is curated by people who live here, love it here, and want you to thrive here. We take that responsibility seriously—and we’re honored to connect you with the people and places that make this city work.

So welcome—not just to a new house or a new job, but to a city full of energy, kindness, and opportunity. We’re so glad you’re here, and we hope Welcome Home Huntsville helps you grow to truly love your new home.

Warmly,

Alisa C.D. Clark
